It's actually good to know that with the surge of smart phones where you take pictures of everything and sync in all your accounts including your business emails, credit cards, etc. you have the option of encrypting your phone.

Now I decided to encrypt mine, took almost an hour, and now I feel a little bit secured. Thing is, I probably did not pay much attention to the warning, so I was thrown off guard afterwards when I found out I'm stuck on using either my pin or password on screen locks. So bye bye to patterns and face unlock... well unless I decide to reset and wipe out my data.

So think twice if you really want to encrypt your phone. I'm disappointed that I can't use some cool ICS features, but I'm keeping it this way for the sake of my accounts.

Jack Could've Stayed Alive!

The first time I've seen Titanic (the movie) back in 1997, I remembered shaking my head in regret and screaming unpleasantries at Rose for her adamant stupidity during the last few scenes in the movie. I mean, come on, if she had just gotten into that boat, Jack wouldn't have died! *Calms myself down.*


Now, after more than a decade, the movie is being shown again, but this time in 3D. Not surprisingly, people have taken mock interest in those final scenes again, posting comments on how Jack could've been saved.. Well, here's one so laboriously done I had to share it with you.

My Online Tots

I know it has been there for some time, so finally, out of sheer curiosity, I've decided to try MakeMeBabies.com, one of these online applications that predict what your future baby/ies are going to look like.

All you have to do is upload two pictures i.e. your picture and whoever's picture (e.g. lover, friend, crush, celebrity), customize some details like the baby's gender, skin color, name; and then wait for your baby -- which should not take more than 9 months.

In my case, of course I used my pic together with my boyfie's pic, randomized the gender and skin color, and voila, here are the results!

The Maquech Brooch: A Living Jewelry

The Maquech brooch aka beetle brooch aka living brooch is an adornment made of a live beetle emblazoned with gems and gold trimmings. It's then worn over clothing as a form of jewelry by the Mayans who started this centuries-old tradition.

What compelled me to blog about this was when I heard that this is still being practiced by people (I think in Mexico), and is currently a "hot" accessory. In my opinion, this is such a cruel thing to do. Accessories are fun and exciting I suppose, but using living creatures as one is a completely different thing. Men are supposed to be stewards of God's creation, not sadistic barbarians who take pride in using these poor creatures as a means to enhance themselves.

Euphemisms: A Powerful Marketing Tool

As a marketing person myself, I'm deeply interested in all sorts of persuasion, in particular, the magical effect of the proper choice of words that would really convert into sales. More so when we're talking about ancient second-hand items, the I-hope-I-can-still-earn-from-this-junk things which are in desperate need of a miracle to make it possible for them to get sold.
